Simple Paneer Curry (Easy Paneer Butter Masala)

An easy paneer curry – soft paneer in a buttery onion-tomato gravy with cashews, garam masala and a touch of cream. Ready in 30 minutes.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup paneer cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup tomato chopped
  • 1/4 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp cashew nuts broken
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp cream optional
  • coriander leaves to garnish
  • salt to taste

Method
 

  1. Put the paneer in hot water for a few minutes, then drain.
  2. Heat the butter in a kadai and sauté the onion.
  3. Add the tomato and cook until light brown, then add the ginger-garlic paste and stir for a few more minutes.
  4. Add the remaining ingredients except the paneer, with a little water. Cover and cook well.
  5. Add the paneer and mix gently. Stir in the cream.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves.
